Everything To Know About The Ford Mustang California Special

MustangCalifornia4

The California Special Mustang has some unique wheels, badges, and other subtle styling elements that distinguish it from the ordinary Mustang. Above all though has to be those 19-inch Carbonised Grey aluminum wheels. Furthermore, the front grille has a blacked-out honeycomb design, GT/CS badges are plastered all over its body, and under its hood lies a nifty little brace with the "California Special" name on it.

On the inside, there are a plethora of small details that differentiate the California Special from the standard Mustang. Some of these altercations include a Carbon Hex aluminum instrument panel, and floor mats that have contrasting red stitching with the "California Special" badge embedded. Other than that, the Miko sports seats have suede inserts and complementary red stitching too, as well as some matching stitching on the suede door panels. And just like the normal Mustang, the GT/CS has Ford’s SYNC 3 infotainment system onboard too.

Apart from the unique brace towering over the Coyote V8, the California Special's engine bay is identical to that of the normal Mustang GT. The GT/CS features a naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter V8 that generates 455 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. Just as with the powertrain, the California Special Mustang also has the same transmission options as the Mustang GT. One is a 10-speed automatic gearbox, and the other is a 6-speed stickshift.

The S550 Mustang's time has come. It's time to say goodbye. Although the California Special might not be the greatest Mustang ever built, it is a respectful way of sending off the sixth-generation Mustang. We'll miss the S550 Mustang, but there is no doubt in our mind that the next-generation Mustang will be just as wild as this one, if not more.
